The compassion and commitment of California's health care professionals is worthy of recognition by their peers and members of our communities. We would like to invite you to nominate extraordinary individuals and organizations for the CMA Foundation's 2011 Leadership Awards, which celebrate the efforts of those who make a difference in the health of Californians.

The Ethnic Physician Leadership Award will be presented at the Annual Network of Ethnic Physician Organizations (NEPO) Summit in San Jose, California on September 18, 2011. The Robert D. Sparks, MD and Adarsh S. Mahal, MD awards will be presented at the CMA Foundation's President's Reception and Awards Dinner on October 16, 2011 in Anaheim, California.

The Ethnic Physician Leadership Award

The Ethnic Physician Leadership Award recognizes an individual physician for his or her contributions toward the health of various ethnic communities and has shown great success in eliminating health disparities, addressing access to care and improving cultural competency and patient advocacy. The purpose of the award is to honor an outstanding physician, inspire other physicians, and to promote leadership, caring and compassion in medicine.

The Robert D. Sparks, MD Leadership Achievement Award

The Robert D. Sparks, MD Leadership Award is given annually to an individual or organization that has demonstrated extraordinary interest and efforts in improving community health consistent with the mission of the CMA Foundation to champion improved individual and community health through a partnership of leaders in medicine, related health professions and the community. The Adarsh S. Mahal, MD Access to Health Care and Disparities Award

The Adarsh S. Mahal, MD Access to Health Care and Disparities Award was established by 2007 CMA President Anmol S. Mahal, MD and his wife Surjit K Mahal, MD to honor an individual or organization that has demonstrated extraordinary interest and efforts toward improving access to health care or reducing health care disparities in California.
