CRITERIA
Premise of the Scholarship
Scholarship funds will be used to assist medical students attending a California medical school (either MD or DO), who are in financial need and desire to be a primary care physician (This includes pediatricians, internists, family practice, and OB-GYN). The intent is to defray tuition for the scholarship recipient(s).
Requirements for selection of candidate
- Official confirmation from a California medical school of completion of a minimum of one year of medical school and verification of student’s good standing. Applicant may apply during second or third year.
- Submission of Curriculum Vitae to include community service activities.
- Two letters of recommendations: at least one of whom is a medical school faculty member, a second who can be a physician, employer, advisor, or community service director.
- One essay addressing the topic designated in the application.
Other stipulations
- The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the board of directors of the CMA Foundation (CMAF).
- If the applicant pool is deemed inadequate by the CMAF board, no scholarship will be awarded in that particular year.
- The scholarship will be presented to the recipient at the annual installation of officers meeting of the CMAF or another community event as deemed appropriate by the board of the CMAF.
