The growth of diabetes and prediabetes in this country is a looming threat, especially at a community level. With that in mind, the AMA has partnered with the California Medical Association (CMA) Foundation and the Network of Ethnic Physician Organizations (NEPO) to help spread the word about the importance of diabetes prevention in local communities. Help your patients prevent type 2 diabetes by identifying those with prediabetes and referring them to a diabetes prevention program. The California Medical Association Foundation and NEPO are teaming up with the American Medical Association to raise awareness and educate physicians and health care providers about tools and resources available to help reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes within the communities they serve. Sacramento CMA member wins AMA Foundation's Excellence in Medicine Award

The American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation has awarded Sacramento area physician and U.S. Air Force Reserve Colonel Darryl Hunter, M.D., its prestigious Excellence in Medicine award. Dr. Hunter was recognized for his outstanding leadership and exceptional service to veterans, students and underserved community members.
