NEPO Physician Appointed to the Medical Board of California by Governor Brown Randy W. Hawkins, MD, 61, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the Medical Board of California. Dr. Hawkins has been assistant professor at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science since 2014 and a physician and surgeon in private practice since 1986. Brown Signs Bill To Collect Data on Diversity of Health Care Workforce

Source: California Healthline - September 23, 2014 Gov. Jerry Brown (D) has signed a bill (AB 2102) that aims to identify gaps in the diversity of California's health care workforce, KPBS reports. Details of Bill Under the bill, the state boards that oversee nurses, physician assistants and other medical providers will be required to report their workforce demographics, including workers': Ethnicities; and Spoken languages. CMAF and the Network of Ethnic Physicians will host two Covered Ca Spanish Webinars in July. Both webinars will offer a quick overview of the change in the marketplace under the Affordable Care Act; the relationship of Covered CA, Exchange Health Plans, and physicians; demographics of the newly-insured and other helpful tips for physicians and their teams to understand and prepare for the next enrollment period which begins November 15, 2014.
